ในสมัยที่ราคาน้ำมันพุ่งทะยานสูงมากขึ้น แล้วก็มีท่าทีว่าจะสูงมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆสำหรับคนที่ใช้รถยนต์บ่อยๆ อาจเริ่มต้นมีความรู้สึกว่าน่าจะสู้กับราคาน้ำมันไม่ไหวอีกต่อไป แต่ว่าจะเปลี่ยนไปใช้รถยนต์กำลังไฟฟ้า (Electric Vehicle) ก็ยังไม่พร้อม หรือเพราะรถยนต์ที่ใช้อยู่พึ่งจะถอยออกมาได้ไม่นาน
